REVELLERS are being invited to get fit in the New Year, Army style!
The Territorial Army has launched the "Time to Get FitTA" campaign and a TA physical trainer from Brandlesholme in Bury is joining in by offering his own tips.
The 12-week fitness campaign has been designed by the TA, the majority of whom work full-time, for people just like them, busy people who want to be fit.
Bury's Corporal Barry Dawson who serves with Manchester's Royal Engineers, said: "One of the big problems is people not joining the TA because they don't think they can get fit enough.
"The Time to Get FitTA programme is a good campaign. It seems to have hit the nail right on the head and addresses the time-management issues.
Cpl Dawson has been a TA physical trainer for 14 months and develops and manages the fitness of TA members in the headquarters squadron of 75 Engineer Regiment at Failsworth.
The new fitness programme provides a comprehensive, structured approach to getting fit. It covers flexibility and strength as well as aerobic and muscle endurance. By the end of the 12-week programme, participants will have achieved a fitness level that would enable them to pass the TA's annual fitness test.
The Time to Get FitTA programme is available free of charge by registering on-line at getfitta.co.uk or by calling 0845 602 5000.
