BURY will have revenge on their minds when they travel to Swindon Town tomorrow.
Last time the Shakers visited the County Ground back in January they were hammered 3-0 in what manager Andy Preece still believes was one of the worst performances his team has ever produced.
Add to that the 3-0 home defeat in August when the Shakers were again poor and it is clear that Swindon are a bogey team.
The recent results still rankle and - boosted by the excellent 1-1 Boxing Day draw at Wigan - the Bury boss is aiming to put things right.
"We definitely owe Swindon one," said Preece. "We were very poor at home against them and we were even poorer at their place last year, one of our worst performances.
"We are looking forward to the match and concentrating on putting things right."
Player of the year Chris Billy is likely to keep his place in centre midfield after replacing flu-sufferer David Borley and turning in a superb display.
Billy was magnificent and didn't look like a player who was last in action on October 23.
"The first 10 or 15 minutes it took him a while to get going but he did a steady job," said Preece.
"He did the holding role which allowed Jason Jarrett to get forward, and I thought first half Jason was outstanding and a class above everyone on the pitch.
"It was a good partnership in the midfield and the two of them gelled very well."
Preece was delighted with the point at Wigan. It was a sign of how far the team have come in the last 12 months. A year ago Bury dominated at the JJB Stadium but conceded a goal and lost the match. This time the Shakers were again the better team and again went a goal down. But on this occasion they had the character and ability to fight back and snatch a well-deserved point.
It shows that Preece's young squad are learning fast and are quickly coming to terms with life in the Football League.
"You can see the confidence and the belief in the team and we are now starting to get the results we deserve," explained the manager.
"To think we've gone from five points to 26 in a short space of time shows the good run of form we've had.
"I've never panicked. It's not been nice the situation we've been in but we are slowly beginning to creep up the league.
"The players die for each other. They've got great spirit and that goes for every player in the squad.
"We've got a nice balance, we're a quick and strong side with plenty of athletes. Things are looking quite good at the moment."
Swindon, who sit just two points above Bury in the league, will be another searching test for the squad - though at least it is a good time to visit the Wiltshire club.
They are in disarray after Roy Evans walked out last week. Former boss Andy King returned to the hot-seat but was roundly booed by fans during Town's 0-0 Boxing Day draw with Bournemouth.
Dangermen are joint top scorers Danny Invincible and Giuliano Grazioli with six goals each and they will lead the line tomorrow.
Preece will give late fitness tests to Borley and another man with flu, full back Jamie Stuart, before naming his team. Expect the same 11 which faced Wigan to start.
