POST office bosses have apologised after Darwen's main branch failed to open yesterday.
A spokesman for Consignia said that staff at the office in The Circus had not been able to open the safe because of a problem with the timer.
"We want to apologise for any inconvenience our customers may have experienced," he added.
People were advised to go instead to offices at either 145 Blackburn Road or 389 Bolton Road, Darwen; Queen Street, Hoddlesden; or Blackburn's main post office in Ainsworth Street.
However, it was expected that the branch on The Circus would re-open for business as normal today.
