POLICE say they are "extremely disappointed" with the sentence given to a Darwen teenager who pushed a glass into the face of another during the the town's Music Festival last summer.
Lee Bellusci, 17, of Two Gates Drive, pleaded guilty at Preston Crown Court to unlawful wounding. He pushed a glass bottle into the face of 17-year-old Scott Shorrock on May 28.
His punishment was 80 hours community service and a 12-month rehabilitation order.
The incident happened on the last day of the Darwen Music Live Festival. Scott was taken to Blackburn Royal Infirmary where he underwent surgery.
At the time of the attack, police inspector Trace O'Gara described it as a "very serious assault."
PC Mark Cruise, of Darwen police, said: "We are extremely disappointed with this sentence, given the seriousness of the injuries inflicted and the offender's number of previous convictions."
A family member said they thought the sentence was a disgrace and that justice had not been done.
He said: "We expected a lot more. It's just like he's had his hand slapped for this."
