NEEDY people across the Fylde tucked in to a festive feast this Christmas thanks to the Fylde FoodBank.
The Fylde FoodBank, which is a ministry within the Christian Service Church, St Andrews Road North, St Annes, co-ordinates the collection and distribution of both food and hygiene items donated by the congregation.
And the church held a Christmas Food Parcel Night where more than 100 parcels were packed for needy people and homeless charities.
The FoodBank was set up in 1999 for the purpose of supplying food to homeless and needy people in the community, and since then has regularly donated food items to local people and to charities such as Street Life.
This Christmas, 28 parcels were given to Help the Aged, 25 to needy people and families in the community and 50 parcels were donated to homeless charities, such as Face to Face in St Annes and Street Life in Blackpool. Members of the Church believe that it is one way in which they can reach out and help the needy and homeless, and hopefully give them a brighter Christmas.
