POLICE are continuing to probe an alleged sighting of the assault and abduction of a woman in Blackburn.
A group of schoolchildren on their way to a nativity play went to police after claiming they had seen a woman being assaulted and bundled into a car by a gang of teenagers.
The alleged incident happened between 7.15pm and 7.30pm near the junction of Leamington Road and St Silas Road last week.
A teacher at the school heard the group discussing the incident the following day and told police.
Police have confirmed that no-one was reported missing from home and no-one had lodged a complaint about being assaulted.
House-to-house inquiries in the area in a bid to uncover any potential witnesses have so far revealed nothing.
The woman is described as white and in her early 20s and the gang was said to number four or five, made up of both white and Asian youths.
The vehicle was described simply as a dark car.
Sgt Paul Murphy of Blackburn CID said police were keeping an open mind and were attempting to piece together the exact circumstances surrounding the alleged abduction.
Anyone who thinks they may have any information should call Blackburn CID on 353564.
