A MUM who went into labour on Christmas Day refused to go to hospital -- until her little boy had opened all his presents!
Tracey Hampson began having labour pains at 5.30am on Christmas morning. But she was determined to stay at her Tyldesley home with husband Howard, until their three and a half year old son Jack had opened his prezzies.
When Tracey, 31, eventually arrived at Salford Hope Hospital she even found the time to tuck into a Christmas dinner before her new baby Anna Louise was born at 5.45pm, weighing in at a healthy nine pounds eight ounces.
"I phoned up the hospital and asked them if it was alright if I didn't come in until Jack had opened his presents -- and I had opened mine!" joked Tracey.
Five other babies were also born at the hospital on Christmas Day -- all of them girls.
Baby Anna was a gift her parents were expecting, as Christmas Day was the date on which she was due.
Tracey said: "I suppose that's quite unusual for a baby to be born on the due date. My son Jack was also born on his due date and, coincidentally, they were both delivered by the same midwife."
Snowy
Mum and baby came home from hospital on a snowy Boxing Day.
And new big brother Jack proudly showed off his little sister to all the visitors and presented her with a toy tortoise to play with.
Both parents said they were delighted their baby was born on such a special day and grandmother Jean Manning is adamant little Anna will get two sets of presents on December 25.
Jean, who was present at the birth, said Anna was not the only member of the family to have been born on a notable day.
She said: "Jack was born on my mum's birthday. My youngest daughter was born on Valentine's Day -- my parents' wedding anniversary."
Tracey added: "We just feel very, very lucky. It's also really nice to have one of each, a boy and a girl."
