OPTICIANS at a shop in Bacup are going to be focused on Monday's launch of an appeal to sponsor and train a guide dog for a year.
Crowther's Opticians, in Market Street, Bacup, is donating £1 from every pair of glasses costing more than £100 to the cause and on Monday there will be raffles and a name the dog competition to help start the appeal.
Customer John Dabbs, from Bacup, uses a guide dog and will attend the launch.
Practice manager Nick Hoyle said: "We are also hoping to have some people along who train guide dog puppies and we have invited the Rossendale Society for the Blind to attend.
"We need to raise £3,650 which is £11 a day and £70 a week. The last time we had a charity appeal we raised £106 in six months. But we are confident because this appeal is high profile and we are committed to it we will raise the money."
