ATHERTON LR had mixed fortunes over the Christmas period.
They progressed to the second round of the Marsden Trophy after beating Nelson.
LR made it hard for themselves when, leading 2-0 with goals from Tony Smith and Barry Massay, they conceded two in the last two minutes of normal time. LR won the penalty shoot-out and now meet Ramsbottom United at home on Tuesday night in the second round.
The derby match against Colls was called off on Boxing Day but on Saturday Glossop travelled over for a League match.
Glossop won 3-1 with Massay and Tony Smith being sent off. LR's goal came from Chris Dalton.
