REGARDING Councillor Ashley Whalley (LET, December 29) I do not know how he can still walk the streets of Blackburn without a bodyguard after the mountains of criticism which have been, and are still being heaped upon him.
It is a classic case of the whole of the town being wrong except him.
It is way past the time he did the decent thing and cleared off. Even the late Alderman George Eddie fled back to his native Scotland after spending the 1960s tearing the heart out of the old town, which many people still remember with affection.
Regarding the drawings by children on display at the end of Barbara Castle Way. They are perhaps not a bad impression of the new circular route. You do not have to look at them for very long to see the resemblance.
