SETTING the standard in more ways than one is Mrs Janice Lloyd.
She has just been declared the North and East Lancashire Royal British Legion (Women's Section) Standard Bearer after impressing judges with her smart appearance and precision in a series of timed drills.
"I've been the deputy standard bearer for three years and Bury's standard bearer for the past four years," said 50-year-old Mrs Lloyd who is an administrative assistant at Remploy in Radcliffe.
"I got involved with the Legion through my next-door-neighbour who was its secretary. She asked me to help boost the numbers," explained Mrs Lloyd of Hillyard Street, Bury.
She will take part in the regional finals in Preston in February, and if she wins that she will go forward to the national final in April.
"It's a bit nerve-wracking, but I'm looking forward to it," said the keen badminton player and cross-stitcher.
Should she win the national title she would represent the Legion at high profile national and international events.
