A RAIDER went on a "veritable campaign" of offending in Burnley to feed his heroin addiction, a court was told.
Burnley Crown Court heard how Anthony Archer, 21, who struck over a few weeks last October, had little thought for the consequences of his actions -- and a judge told him only he could kick his habit. Archer was jailed for a total of two years by Judge Barbara Watson, who said he had a considerable record for dishonesty built up since he got hooked on drugs in about 1998.
She said his pre-sentence report made depressing reading and until he decided he wanted to give up his addiction nobody could help him. Judge Watson said the defendant had been made subject to both community and custodial sentences, none of which had significantly changed his behaviour.
Archer, of Mitella Street, Burnley, was given his first term in an adult prison. He had admitted three burglaries, two thefts and asked for two offences to be considered.
