A KIND-HEART from Burnley sent £100 to a 91-year-old mugging victim who was attacked in Radcliffe.
The son of Gertrude Dockery, Stan, contacted the Lancashire Evening Telegraph to give a personal thank-you to 'A Ainsworth' who sent his mother the money.
He said: "My mother was mugged the week before Christmas as she was walking in Radcliffe after doing some shopping.
"The story made the front page of the local paper and I think this person must have had the newspaper sent to them because it says in the letter that they worked in Radcliffe all their life.
"The men jumped out of a car and one grabbed her handbag but because she wouldn't let go of it my mother was knocked to the ground where she hit her head and suffered a broken finger as she held onto the bag."
The pensioners' fingers have been taped up following the incidents to allow the bones to heal.
Mr Dockery, who also lives in Radcliffe, said: "The letter was signed A Ainsworth, Laird of Glen Cairn, Burnley, and had a coat of arms on the letter.
"It is a very nice gesture for someone from Burnley to send this and we as a family would like to say thank-you but as we have no address to write to we're hoping this will get through."
Mrs Dockery had £100 in a purse in her handbag when it was stolen.
Since the attack, the Radcliffe Rotary Club have replaced the money, while local firefighters provided her with a hamper and she received dozens of flowers from well wishers.
