ACTRESS Debbie Margolis is casting her spell on audiences as the magic fairy in a Manchester pantomime.

The professional performer, a former Bury Grammar School pupil, is currently starring in Mother Goose at the Wythenshawe Forum.

Debbie, who is originally from St Ann's Road in Prestwich but now lives in Crumpsall, has been kept busy on the theatre circuit since leaving the Guildford School of Acting five years ago.

The 30-year-old, who began acting as a child at the Prestwich Junior Drama Group, starred at the Forum last year as the Princess in Aladdin and she has just completed a six-month stint in an off-Broadway show in London, entitled The Donkey Show.

Locally she has run acting workshops at Philips High and King David High Schools and has been involved in numerous productions by the Jewish Theatre Group.

Debbie also recently appeared in Coronation Street as one half of a couple at an ante-natal class. attended by Emma Watts and her teacher friend Charlie. Her next assignment with them will be choreographing the junior section's production of Joseph and the Amazing Technicolour Dreamcoat, which is produced by Debbie's older brother Robert, who is a member of Middleton Amateur Dramatic Society.

Commenting on her latest role in Mother Goose, Debbie said: "I play a funky fairy who raps all her lines. The children love it and we all have a good laugh."
