EVERYONE loves a good ol' traditional pantomime and council officers from South Ribble Borough Council are ready to perform a real rags to riches tale!

Council officers -- including the South Ribble's chief exec' -- are preparing to swap their suits for colourful costumes in time for an adaptation of the old time classic 'Cinderella'.

With an injection of local humour combined with lots of music and dance 'Cinderibble' promises to be a show not to be missed.

And the 12-strong cast -- all council workers with South Ribble -- have produced their own unique version of the popular tale, making it a classic in its own right.

Leisure commercial services manager David Seager, who plays one of the ugly sisters, said: "The play is basically set around the original Cinderella storyline but we've added some local humour and introduced some music and dance acts so the audience can really participate during the event."

The lead role of 'Cinderibble' will be played by assistant chief executive, Andrea Staltmeir, with council management executive Gill Diddles as her second step-sister. South Ribble's chief executive Jean Hunter will narrate the play.

The play is on at the Civic Centre, West Paddock, Leyland, from Thursday, January 10 to 12, at 7.30pm and a late matinee at 5.30pm on the Saturday.

Tickets are £4 (adults), £3 (OAPs), and £2 (children), with discounts available for group bookings and families. Tickets are available on the door or can be bought in advance at several local outlets including Shoe Care, Chapel Brow, Leyland, and St Catherine's Hospice Shops in Leyland, Lostock Hall and Penwortham. Tickets can also be obtained from the council on 421491 or 625510.

All proceeds from the pantomime will be donated to three local charities including the Mayoral Charity Fund, Leyland and Cuerden Valley Lions Club and the KEY project which aids young homeless people.
