CHURCH ace Ronnie "The Rocket" Baxter bowed out in the quarter-final stages of the Skol World Championship in Purfleet.
Seeking an elusive first world crown Baxter fell 6-2 against 'One Dart' Peter Manley.
The match was always going to be played at a blistering pace with both players releasing and collecting their darts in under eight seconds.
The odds on favourite Baxter started the match with a flyer taking the first set in top speed with some awesome finishing.
However, it was soon honours even as Manley leveled and the next two sets were also shared.
The turning point in the game was in the fifth set when Baxter was punished
by Manley for missing his doubles and the tornado of 'One Dart' soon
put Baxter into a spin and Manley began to draw clear with a surge of 140s and
some clinical finishing.
Manley took the next four sets on the trot and the match by 6-2.
Manley's next opponent is Colin Lloyd who earlier beat former World Champion Richie Burnett 6-4.
Lloyd insists he does not fear anyone ahead of his semi-final clash with Manley.
The Witham thrower produced the shock result of the tournament when he defeated world number one Alan Warriner in the second round on Sunday night.
But anyone who thought his success was a flash in the pan were proved wrong in the quarter-finals.
The 27-year-old raced into a 5-0 lead before Burnett staged a gutsy comeback. However, Lloyd held his nerve to seal a 6-4 win and set up a last-four encounter with Manley.
But Lloyd, another high-tempo player, is confident that he can cause another major upset.
"I know what I am capable of and everyone look out - I'm not here for the fun of it," said Lloyd.
"I'm here to do some damage. I've done some damage already but I want to do a little bit more.
"I've always played well in open tournaments but I've never really done it in televised events.
"I've got two quarter-finals under my belt in the World Matchplay and the World Grand Prix - but now I'm in the semi-finals of the biggest tournament in world.
"I don't care if he (Manley) thrashes me, I'm just going to make sure I enjoy myself. And if I enjoy myself and the darts start to flow then the other player better look out."
Lloyd should be able to count on the support of the Circus Tavern spectators tonight - and he is sure they can spur him on.
He added: "I love the crowd because I'm an Essex boy. If they support me, I'll love them to bits."
Phil 'The Power' Taylor, chasing his 10th world title, will face Dave Askew in the other semi-final.
