MAY I place on record my very sincere thanks to the public in Bury and surrounding areas for their donations to the 2001 Poppy Appeal. My thanks also to the voluntary groups who look after the static points and those who braved the weather during the Saturday street collections.
The amount raised was £27,300 which was £600 down on last year. This was, however, a truly magnificent effort by all concerned and for which I, on behalf of the Royal British Legion Poppy Appeal, am most grateful.
ERIC W. DAVIDSON,
honorary organiser.
