IAN Moore was praised by manager Ternent after his hat-trick heroics that secured a fourth round trip to Cheltenham Town.

"Ian Moore has done really well all season for us," he said. "People judge strikers on goals but I did not buy him for that reason alone.

"When Gareth went off he was running the front line alone and he did particularly well. The third goal killed them off (Canvey) but he has scored that type of goal before, at Birmingham and at Palace.

"He is still only young and he will only get better."

His three goals were classic strikes, the first a glancing header, the second a beautifully curled shot and the third a six yard smash after Papadopoulos had headed back Kevin Ball's cross.

His 13 game goal drought seems a long time ago given the current hot streak of seven goals in six games, taking his total for the season to 11.

But there was bad news for Clarets boss Stan Ternent in relation to his two other regular scorers, Taylor and Glen Little.

The Cup victory came at a price as Taylor, with nine goals this season, did not re-emerge for the second half having picked up a knock.

Then just before the hour Little, who had earlier scored his tenth goal of the season, pulled up with a hamstring injury.
