SCHOOL MESSAGE: Instead of a school motto on our badge we have an emblem -- a large, healthy, growing tree.
Our message is in the picture in that we are dedicated to the successful growth of "the whole child" -- helping them to develop from small, vulnerable children into happy, successful, confident and independent young men and women.
HISTORY LESSON: Alder Grange seems to have been a council school at the end of the 19th century.
The original building was replaced in 1983 by our present modern building on an elevated site close to the town centre. It was a secondary modern school until 1991 when it won status as a comprehensive high school, serving the 11-16 range.
NUMBER OF PUPILS: We should have 600 pupils on roll but now have 660. We've been significantly over-subscribed for many years and pressure on places is high.
WHERE DO THEY COME FROM?: We have about 23 feeder schools at any given time. Most of our pupils come from Rawtenstall and the surrounding areas.
WHAT WE OFFER: A warm, friendly environment with good facilities and a clear vision for the future.
Alder Grange is one of Lancashire's five community-use schools and we welcome many members of the local community to take part in a wide range of sporting, cultural and social events.
WHAT WOULD YOU DO WITH A £100,000 WINDFALL?: Our greatest need is for upgraded sports facilities.
We're bidding for a new sports hall, a floodlit Astroturf pitch and upgraded football and athletics field. We'd also like additional classrooms.
