FIREFIGHTERS had to free a man from his car early this morning following an accident in Whalley Old Road, Blackburn.
Three fire crews from Accrington were called to the scene involving two cars, outside the Shepherds Rest pub, at around 7.43am.
One man suffered chest injuries after he was trapped in his Jeep. He was freed by fire crews and was taken to Blackburn Royal Infirmary.
A passenger in the other car suffered an asthma attack as a result of the crash and was taken to BRI as a precaution.
Drivers were caught in tailbacks on the busy road and many were forced to turn round to avoid the congestion.
