THIS may look a fairly insignificant photograph showing a summer scene in Leigh's war memorial gardens.
Our photographer stamped the company copyright on the back of his print but didn't give any clue to help us date this shot taken from the Silk Street side of the gardens just a few strides from Leigh's main post office.
The elderly women to the right of the photograph are dressed in a style we would have thought was on its way out with the 1950s. The only other clue is a parking sign in Church Street -- when were they introduced on town centre streets?
