Leigh RMI 4 Rossendale United 3 (aet).
LEIGH RMI made the quarter-finals of the Lancashire Marsden Trophy for the third consecutive season at Hilton Park last night.
But they were pushed all the way by Unibond First Division side Rossendale United.
Rick Harris was gifted the first goal for the visitors after a mistake by RMI keeper Craig Dootson.
RMI produced a less than vintage display but seven minutes later Ged Kielty chipped a glorious ball to the far post where Dino Maamria was lurking to nod the equaliser. Maamria doubled his tally with a penalty soon after the break but they were never in full control of the tie and 'Dale were back on terms through Fitzgerald.
Leigh had wasted several great opportunities and it almost cost them when Sargesan scrambled home a third in the first period of extra time but RMI came back when Maamria completed his treble and Black finished off the plucky visitors with an excellent goal seven minutes from time.
