WEDNESDAY boss Terry Yorath thought his side deserved to get something from the game.
Yorath said: "I thought we could have drawn that game.
"We started well enough and could have scored in the first minute but, unfortunately, the ball went straight to their keeper.
"Then, after we got it back to 2-1 in the second half, we had a great chance with Pablo and Efan Ekoku also had a header saved so I thought we played well enough, generally, to get a draw.
"But you can't give Premier Division strikers the chances that they had tonight.
"In terms of spirit, though, I was pleased with how the lads responded. We needed to show that level of commitment after our last game here. That was a poor performance against Norwich and we needed to prove to the fans that there is commitment within the club and I think the players did that tonight.
"Although we'll now go to Ewood a goal down, I still don't think the tie is dead.
"Anything can happen as long as you set your stall out right, try and stifle them in midfield, and then try and nick a goal from a free kick, a corner or whatever.
"Then it becomes game on because we're only one goal behind."
Blackburn goal scorer Craig Hignett said: "We got off to a really good start, we played quite well and at 2-0, that set us up nicely for the second half.
"But it didn't turn out like that. They put us under a lot of pressure, as we knew they would, and it became a battle.
"From a personal point of view, though, it was just nice to get a start and, hopefully, I've done my chances no harm with a couple of goals over the last few days."
