POLICE in Burnley are looking for recruits -- of the four-legged variety.
Lancashire Constabulary's Dog training School is in need of German shepherds, rottweilers and dobermans aged between one and two years.
Sergeant John Dean said: "Last year's appeal brought offers of 73 dogs.
"Of those we actually viewed and assessed 55, six were suitable, two of which are now working as police dogs and the other four are at various stages of training."
The next initial training course for dogs starts in February, so dogs are needed soon if they are to secure a place. Anyone with a dog they think may be suitable should contact the Dog Training School on 01772 412412.
