POLICE today confirmed that a man is helping them with enquiries into a road crash but renewed their appeal for witnesses.
The accident happened in Brunshaw Road in Burnley on Saturday morning when a silver Peugeot 405 collided with a grey Honda Accord.
The road was closed for almost an hour as recovery vehicles removed the mangled wrecks of both cars from the scene.
A man was seen fleeing from the scene and entering a house in nearby Lebanon Street.
The man then fled from the back door of the house as police officers called at the front.
A spokesman for Pennine Road Safety division of the police said: "We are asking for anyone who saw the accident to come forward, or anyone who saw the man running from the scene."
The man driving the Peugeot 405 who fled the scene of the accident is described as a white male in his 20s, wearing a light-coloured top and dark trousers.
