MANAGEMENT at a Blackburn social club have barred a large group of regulars following an incident which led to police being called.
Waterside Social Club in Audley Range has suffered a spate of vandalism following a fight which broke out on the premises last week.
Now management have confirmed they have barred 21 regulars for two weeks in the hope it will calm the situation. But some of those barred claim they have been chosen unfairly and are not associated with the group which caused trouble.
Management say since the fight, windows have been smashed and they have been forced to invoke the ban to avoid further trouble.
Ahklaq Ahmed, 28, of Crossfield Street, Blackburn, said he had been a member of the club in Audley Range for two years. "The people who run the club know me really well but because I know the ones they think caused the trouble, they have banned me too.
"When I went to ask why, I was told it was because they weren't allowing certain people in any more. I find that offensive and it could cause real problems in the area."
A spokesman for the club said: "We have barred around 20 people because of the trouble we have been having." Police confirmed that officers attended a disturbance at the club.
