THE Government wants as many people as possible to use the internet.
But getting people to use it is quite a challenge, especially those who have never had to use a computer before.
A new website has been launched to "internetise" the nation at www.letsallgeton.gov.uk as part of the Government's wider UK online initiative.
Companies will be able to take advantage of e-commerce. And the Government will be able to save cash by organising electronic tax bills, and perhaps even digital elections.
The site has an internet guru, Caramel Quin, who has her own home page and answers common questions like "How can I shop safely online?" and "How do I avoid viruses?''
The aim is to make the internet become a part of people's everyday life that will benefit the UK as a whole.
The idea is once that has happened the general public will have modern computer skills, and be able to take on more technical jobs.
Of course, if you haven't got a computer, trying to look at the official campaign website is not going to be easy.
That's why a special phone line has been set up, so anyone can find out more, the free information line number is 0800 771234.
