DINO Maamria reminded Leigh fans just how much he has been missed as his hat-trick helped RMI beat Rossendale 4-3 after extra time on Tuesday and reach the Lancashire Trophy quarter-finals for a third successive year.
Rossendale lined up with three ex-Railwaymen in their starting XI and it was one who broke the deadlock when Craig Dootson dealt inadequately with a deflected Jerome Fitzgerald cross and Rick Harris nodded the underdogs ahead.
Maamria equalised from a pinpoint chip from Ged Kielty and netted his second of the night from the penalty spot. But back came the visitors to square the match at 2-2 to send the game into extra time.
Their failure to decide the match in normal time seemed to have cost the Railwaymen dearly 13 minutes into extra time when Sargesan re-established a lead for Rossendale but Maamria's third seemed to send the game towards the dreaded penalty kicks.
All of this was avoided in spectacular fashion eight minutes from the end of extra time when Tony Black sprinted clear of the last defender and unleashed a fierce shot that flew past Andrews and crashed into the top corner of the net.
