CHAIRMAN of Ramsbottom and Tottington Area Board Coun Dorothy Gunther, has been re-selected as the prospective Conservative candidate for Ramsbottom in May 2002.
Coun Gunther first represented the town on Bury Council in 1992 and has served on education, highways, housing and social services committees and is currently campaigning for a dedicated road to Fairfield Hospital and more effective policing for Ramsbottom and Tottington.
She lives in Summerseat with her husband, Michael, and is a governor of Holcombe Brook Primary School and a founder member of Ramsbottom Music Festival and a former chairman of Ramsbottom Sports Council.
Coun Gunther said she is concerned at the way Bury Council is delivering some of its social services and the continuing increase in council house rent arrears. She is also concerned about the decline in law and order and the lack of respect shown to people generally and especially when it involved vandalism of public and private property.
