CHORLEY Athletic Club's extraordinary year was reflected at their prize giving evening when four Special Achievement Awards were presented.
High jumper Lee Pursglove was the first to make his big breakthrough when he won the silver medal at the English Schools Championships at Exeter in July.
Competing in the Junior Boys age group the 14-year-old improved his PB by 8cm in a single day to clear 1:84m.
Unfortunately his final height took him two attempts and he missed the gold on countback. However he did win the Northern title and the Northern Inter Counties.
Two athletes reached their peak on the same day. Vicky Snape, who is 15, and 17-year-old Nathan Lawton were both selected for the Junior England Fell Team after impressing in the Trial at Rivington in July.
Vicky went on to win a gold medal as a member of the successful under 16 team in the British and Irish Junior Fell Running Championships at Cavehill, Belfast.
Nat was less fortunate as the under 18's under performed and missed the medals, but his run was the bright spot as he was first counter for his country.
Coach Alan Morris received his award for his commitment to the club and it's athletes.
