BURY are running the rule over an American trialist, writes PHIL THORP.
Beckett Hollenbach is a 21-year-old College player from Maryland who has paid his own passage in search of a soccer career in the UK.
He was recommended to Andy Preece by an associate of his and has been at the club a couple of weeks.
A defender, at home in the right back position, Hollenbach has a long list of soccer honours behind him in his home country and turned out for the reserves in the 3-0 victory over Darlington on Monday.
"Beckett has trained for a week, but most of the time we have been indoors," said Shakers boss Andy Preece.
"But when he played in the reserves on Monday he did well for us.
"Now the weather will let us get outside more I'll be able to make a more informed opinion of him, but he's keen to do well and will be staying with us for a while longer."
