"LET them eat cake!" was the cry of fund-raising sixth formers at a Lytham school.
The King Edward VII and Queen Mary School students sold more than 600 cakes and buns to their class mates, raising more than £120 for the BBC's Children In Need appeal.
Deputy head girl Merita Crookenden said she was "delighted" with the response. She added: "We had a mountain of cakes and I thought we might not eat them all. But the Head of Sixth Form, Mr Stephenson, is an international-class cake eater and he polished them off!
