BRENT Peters wants highly-rated striker Jason Lanns to prove his worth at Bacup so he can move back into League football.
Lanns, who has been at Leeds United and Rochdale before moving to the NWCL Division Two side in the summer, is one tipped by the Bacup boss to make a name for himself.
But he isn't proving consistent at the moment and Peters is demanding more.
"He has got to give 100 per cent in every game," said the boss.
"I have put him on a pedestal, he is a good player and I want to help him get back where he wants to be.
"But he has got to do it himself on and off the pitch. He has got to work harder at times."
Lanns was disappointed with his own performance as Bacup crashed out of the Lancashire Marsden Trophy, losing 3-0 to Division One side Clitheroe on Tuesday night.
Bacup were 2-0 down in the first few minutes, and Peters switched Lanns to sweeper in the second half where Bacup performed better.
"We were slow off the mark as we hadn't played since December 13," admitted Peters. "Clitheroe have quality and experience in their side but to be fair to my lads their heads never dropped and they responded to what I said.
"We kept a clean sheet in the second half which is what I asked from the players."
Peters' side are at home to Stone Dominoes tomorrow and he is then hoping to attract a more experienced midfielder to West View.
"I have two young players in Vinnie Pattison and Paul Wane who are doing well but I need someone like an Andy Grimshaw-style player who they can learn off."
