Clarets boss Stan Ternent is not surprised that his £1million striker Ian Moore has been given unstinting support by the fans.

"The fans love Mooro because he always gives everything he has got," said Ternent this week after seeing his record buy score a hat trick against Canvey Island last weekend.

"That is why even when the goals weren't going in for him he was not given a hard time.

"All the players at the club think the world of him and so do I. He has done fantastically well this season even when he wasn't scoring.

"He has great pace, he leads the line well and there is a lot more to his game than just scoring.

"He has already passed the double figure mark for the season but we know that he will keep getting better."

Moore and the rest of the Clarets team will have more pressure on them to score in the next few weeks because the double goal threat of Glen Little and Gareth Taylor has been sidelined by injury.

"Glen has got to double figures and Gareth has notched nine, all headers, this season so they are both doing well," he said.

"And we have been without the skipper (Steve Davis) for the last couple of months and he is usually good for five or six goals each season."

Before today's trip to Selhurst Park to take on Wimbledon the trio of Little, Taylor and Moore had scored all but three of the last 22 goals scored by the Clarets in all competitions.

Apart from Arthur Gnohere's double at Preston and Paul Cook's goal against Sheffield United, the rest of the 19 goals came from the same three players.

At the start of the season the goals were being shared around the side with Cook and Lee Briscoe both netting a few and Andy Payton striking four times, all as a substitute.

Now would be the perfect time for the rest of the team to start finding their shooting boots.
