YOUNGSTERS have been enjoying lessons from Down Under as three teachers from Australia visit schools in Blackburn and Darwen.
The trio left their classrooms in sunny Adelaide to study in East Lancashire as part of the Teachers' International Professional Programme.
A spokesperson for Blackburn with Darwen Council said the main purpose of their visit was to learn about how the National Curriculum was implemented in local schools and to study behaviour management and pastoral care.
The teachers have visited St Wilfrid's High School, Pleckgate High, Crosshill Special School, St Mary and St Joseph's RC Primary, St Thomas CE Primary and Cedars CE Infants.
Next month, a local education authority official and nine teachers will make a similar trip to Chicago to study American methods of behaviour management. The research is funded by the Department for Education and Skills.
