INJURY stricken Bacup went down fighting at home to Stone, but manager Brent Peters was a far-from-happy man.
Missing eight men through injury and Mark Hall through suspension, Peters was in the end forced to play Stuart Farnell, Vinnie Pattison and Alex Binney despite the fact they were not match fit.
And he was not enamoured that a potential signing failed to show.
"We had agreed that Neil Wright would be coming in for the game, but at 1.30pm we received a call saying he would not be coming," explained Peters.
"Given that his father is manager at Chorley I would have expected a little bit more from the lad."
Peters was heartened by his team's performance.
"In the end we were lucky to raise a team and three of them probably shouldn't have been playing, but it just shows what good clubmen they are," said Peters.
"We also put two teenagers in and they did everything asked of them and 10 out of the 11 were a credit to the football club, but there was a question over Jason Lanns.
"He was caught in possession for both their goals when he could have got the ball away."
Battling Bacup were floored when Stone's Anthony Danylk managed to find the target from fully 40 yards on 61 minutes and the second blow was administered 11 minutes later by Chris Moores.
Peters will be giving some of his younger players a run in a midweek friendly at home to Burnley United on Wednesday night (7.30pm).
