SCHOOLS across East Lancashire are being invited to take part in Veggie Month -- and parents are being asked to back the campaign.
If your child has eschewed chops and chicken for lunch what questions should you be asking their school to see if it passes the "veggie test"?
Ronny Worsey, who works for the charity Animal Aid, said: "Lots of young people care about cruelty and are going vegetarian.
"We believe there is tremendous potential for making life easier for veggie children."
And he said questions parents should ask at their children's school were:
On a typical day how many vegetarian main meal options are there in the school canteen?
Are there ever days when there is no vegetarian option?
Is the vegetarian food usually better or worse than the non-vegetarian food?
Can you get specially-prepared meals such as spaghetti bolognese made with soya mince?
Veggie Month will start across the country on March 1.
