HORROR! is the first in a series of study support events aimed at pupils in Blackburn and Darwen.
The aim of the study support programme is to encourage young people to use the resources of the borough's libraries and museum for learning and leisure.
The programme for Horror! consists of:
A spooky surfing session in the Family Learning Centre
A preview of a brand new collection of horror titles - and the opportunity to be the first to borrow them
An investigation and discussion about the genre of horror
A chance to find out about the real-life horror stories of Blackburn and the surrounding area and see and touch the genuine museum artefacts.
At the end each session young people taking part will receive a certificate of attendance.
The programme will also touch upon some areas of the national curriculum which can be included in the youngsters' record of achievement.
Future sessions will explore topics such as space exploration, Victorian Blackburn and the environment.
Dates for the "Horror" sessions are Wednesday January 30, 4.45pm - 6.45pm or Saturday February 2, 10am - noon at Blackburn Central Library on Town Hall Street in Blackburn town centre.
Tickets for the sessions are free and can be obtained from the Children's Library or by telephoning Andrea Heyes, study support manager, at Blackburn Library and Museum Service, telephone 01254 587244. Early booking is advisable.
