THE roads in Blackburn have been atrocious recently and, unfortunately, the council have not done a lot to rectify this.
The gritting was done too late when the bad weather first set in. Whalley Old Road was virtually impassable on Saturday December 29. I was stranded and unable to attend a family meal because taxis were not turning out.
Taxis were also unable to run the following day because of the road conditions.
I advise the council to tune into Ceefax page 400 -- the long range weather forecast -- and prepare the roads accordingly.
People's lives could be at risk and taxi drivers need to make a living -- they already fork out enough to the council to put their taxis on the road.
