POLICE have issued a warning to Accrington residents to check their doors are locked at night after two burglaries on the same night.
One was at mid-terraced house in Lodge Street, where burglars entered through the front door and stole a black leather wallet containing £45 and various cards. The other was in Annie Street where burglars walked through the front door of a terraced house and took £40, 40 CDs, a CD tower holder and a Nokia mobile telephone. DS Mark Rothwell said: "I believe these two burglaries are connected and may have been committed by the same person.
"I would advise all residents who live either side of Burnley Road in Accrington -- particularly in terraced houses -- to remember to lock their front doors before they go to bed. It is alarming how many people leave them open."
Anyone who saw anything suspicious between 11pm on Saturday and 9.30am on Sunday or who has information about these burglaries can call 01254 353743 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
