BARNOLDSWICK run-maker Arran Thompson and England teammate Caroline Atkins set a new England record opening partnership in posting 150 at the end of day one of the first Test against India at Lucknow yesterday.
Atkins (64no) and Thompson (60no), opening together for the seventh time for England after captain Clare Connor won the toss, also scored their highest individual totals for England in a full international match.
Thompson said: "Our weakness on tour has been forming partnerships and we really worked as a partnership today."
Atkins added: "It's great we're still in but we've got a way to go to win this test."
Despite disappointing results in the one-day matches, both players have found some form on the tour to India so far, with Thompson scoring 62 and Atkins 42 in warm-up matches.
