LESSONS about the French Revolution could soon be taught in the native tongue at Rossendale's language college.
The innovative idea is being studied by Elizabeth Woolley, head of the upper school at Rawtenstall's All Saints High, who will next month be travelling to Canada.
She will see how 'immersion teaching' works with students in Canada who have French roots.
The trip has been organised by the League for Excellence of Commonwealth Teachers and Gloucestershire education authority.
Deputy head Mike Vizzard said: "Mrs Woolley will be seeing how it takes place in Canada where some lessons are taught in French.
"She will be producing a report on her visit to see if there are any areas where this could possibly be translated into our school. Our partner schools could use this idea to raise standards.
"We will only be introducing this system in areas where it will benefit students. It will not just be introduced where it has no curriculum relevance but it should give students a cultural feeling for the work they are learning."
