HOW much longer is Blackburn with Darwen Council going to take getting Darwen Tower back to its former glory?
All we have had is excuse after excuse and the longer it takes, the more the Tower will fall further into disrepair. Are they hoping it will eventually fall down?
The Tower is Darwen's heritage. The powers that be say it will cost £30,000 to repair. They take enough from us in council tax, so surely, some could go towards the repair of the Tower.
Anyone who has been to the top of the Tower will tell you, on a clear day the views are breathtaking. It has stood proud on the moors for over 100 years and we don't want this to change. So, come on, Blackburn with Darwen council, no more excuses. Just save our Tower.
DAVID KIMBERLEY, Duddon Avenue, Darwen.
