A NEW witness to an assault on a father and son has come forward following an appeal in the Lancashire Evening Telegraph.
Peter Waddington and his son Simon were attacked in Hammerton Street, Burnley, on Thursday night in what police said was a "serious assault".
Peter, 52, suffered cracked ribs, a broken nose, extensive bruising, cuts and abrasions while his son Simon, 31, received a gash to the back of his head and injuries to his ribs and arms.
Both father and son, from Burnley, were left unconscious after the assault and were treated in Burnley General Hospital for their injuries.
PC Lisa Smith said: "Another witness to the incident has now come forward and we will be interviewing them.
"We are still appealing for more witnesses to contact the police."
The two men were in the area near to Chicago Rock Cafe at 11.50pm on Thursday. Anyone who saw the assaults is asked to contact 01282 425001.
