COMPLAINTS about drug-taking in a village near Darwen have resulted in a special open day being held by Blackburn with Darwen Council.
The drugs-awareness event is to be staged at the Barlow Institute, in Bolton Road, Edgworth, on January 23.
Various drug agencies are being invited to the event, and local schools will also attend so pupils can be taught about the dangers of drugs. Sue Frear, from the institute, said: "There have been concerns about drugs being taken locally and parents have been asking what they should look out for.
"They, too, can come to this event to find out what to look for and discover where they can seek help as well."
The event runs from 2pm until 7pm.
