HEALTH trusts covering Blackburn and Burnley now have no inpatients waiting for more than 15 months, according to figures released by the NHS Executive North West.
Both the Blackburn, Hyndburn and Ribble Valley NHS Trust, which runs Queen's Park Hospital, Blackburn, and Blackburn Royal Infirmary and Burnley NHS Trust, which runs Burnley General Hospital, are both among the two thirds of trusts nationally achieving the target before the government deadline of the end of March this year.
The number of patients on waiting lists for both trusts has risen overall, however, with the Blackburn trust having 5,043 patients waiting in December, compared with 4,989 the previous month and Burnley having 4,745 on its waiting lists compared with 4,727 in November.
