IN reply to Councillor Ian Ormerod (Letters, December 19), I agree that the Globe Centre in Accrington was built during Labour's term in office and that it has been a success, but to claim that Labour foresaw it being used as collateral for the cinema complex is delving into fantasy.
We were given many reasons by Labour why we could not have a cinema.
The Conservatives promised a cinema complex and delivered. It was an astute business move on their part to use the Globe Centre as collateral.
Labour has talked about the Market Square development since Adam was a lad; Conservatives are delivering after only two years in control.
The claim that Labour refurbished the children's playgrounds is also a fallacy. In fact, play furniture was removed and never replaced. It is only since the advent of the area councils that money has been invested in play areas.
