IT wasn't pretty stuff but Alex Smith didn't seem to mind as he help himself to a route one style hat-trick for leaders Ossie Juniors.
The powerful front runner strike twice in the first half and completed his treble just after the restart with a real pile driver of a goal.
Smith grabbed his first after 10 minutes when defenders backed off him and gave him room to power a shot past Stephen Pickup.
He nearly grabbed a second soon after when his instinctive shot flashed wide from a poor Pickup goal kick.
Akzo were playing the more attractive football and should have done better when quick passes from Bobby Corless and Stephen Ashcroft released Matthew Egan. But he delayed his shot and the danger was cleared.
Egan had a shot blocked soon after before Ossie keeper Brandon Rogan made a brave save to keep out a snap shot from Scott Young.
Akzo defender Jamie Gardiner was having a great game at the back but was muscled off the ball as Smith grabbed his second.
Jonny Livesey raced on to a long through ball but Pickup was out quickly to save the shot. However, Smith held off Gardiner to bounce on the loose ball and fire in to the unguarded net.
After Corless produced another good run down the right, Ossie's strikers combined well before Pickup was forced in to another good save to deny Smith.
But Pickup had no chance with Smith's next shot soon after the break when he latched on to a ball from hard-working skipper Adam Cafferty and smacked an early shot past the out-stretched keeper.
Akzo continued to play their pretty football and worked a good opening when slick inter changes between Michael Ellison and Young released Corless who fired wide.
But it was Smith who was on fire and he tried his luck from fully 30 yards before flashing a shot just across past the target.
Akzo's striker Matthew Haworth gave a busy display outside the box but got little opportunity to show his finishing skills.
However, after Chris McPhail bundled over Gardiner in the box, Haworth showed great composure to score from the spot. That inspired a late flurry from Akzo and Ellison went close before Haworth raced clear only to see his shot well saved by Rogan. Smith nearly grabbed a fourth but his bullet shot was matched by a brilliant finger tip save by Pickup.
