LEIGH Centurions will take the advantage of a free weekend to take a rare break from the extended NFP season, writes David Magilton.
The players will train every day this week but have the weekend off.
"It will give several of the guys time to recover from illness and injuries," said coach Paul Terzis.
The Centurions were without flu victim Neil Turley and the injured Simon Baldwin for the draw with Rochdale Hornets last weekend and both are expected to be available for the opening round of the RL Challenge Cup at the Autoquest Stadium the following week. One player making his return in that game is the versatile Phil Kendrick who has recovered from a long standing back injury, but prop Dave Whittle, who tore a calf muscle last week faces a four to six weeks lay-off.
Leigh will be hoping prop Dave Bradbury can escape with a lenient ban when he appears before the disciplinary committee. "We have looked at the video and sent a copy to the Rugby League," added Terzis.
"He will have to appear but we will have to get a case built up because it is plain to see what eventuates on the tape.
"The player came back on and Dave has had a good record for the past three or four years so that should help his case."
