AN inquest opened yesterday at Burnley magistrates' court into the death of a Colne pensioner who died in Burnley General Hospital on January 11.
A post-mortem examination showed Kathleen Brown, of Slater Avenue, died after suffering head injuries.
Coroner's officer PC Bob Wilson said Mrs Brown fell down the stairs in her home on December 11 last year.
Her husband Thomas called an ambulance and she was taken to hospital, where her condition remained very poorly.
The inquest was adjourned for further inquiries into Mrs Brown's fall.
